News and Insights

This International Women’s Day, we’re sharing a story that resonates with the values we hold dear at Epic Government: resilience, dedication, and the pioneering spirit of women who lead by example. Adriana Gonzales, whose career in the U.S. Air Force spans over two decades, embodies these qualities, making her journey not just remarkable but deeply inspiring.

Adriana’s Air Force Legacy

Adriana’s path in the military began in 1996, inspired by the positive stories she heard from those who served before her. Her service took her from administrative roles to leadership positions, with deployments that demonstrated her adaptability and strength. Adriana’s retirement in 2020 as a Master Sergeant marked the end of a significant chapter in her life, one filled with achievements and personal growth.

A Seamless Transition to Epic Government

Joining Epic Government felt like coming home for Adriana. Here, she discovered a community that not only values her unique experiences as a veteran but also supports her transition into civilian life. At Epic she is part of a team that values the unique perspectives and experiences of women veterans, finding camaraderie and support among fellow veterans and under female leadership of General Manager, Kimberly Toll.

Navigating Challenges with Grace

Reflecting on her early days in the Air Force, Adriana notes the gender disparity and the rarity of recognition for women’s contributions. Yet, over the years, she witnessed and contributed to a significant shift towards inclusivity and recognition for women in the military. Her advice to women considering a similar path? Embrace the opportunities and be a part of the change that continues to open doors for future generations.

Adriana’s leadership journey also offers insights into navigating male-dominated environments. Her approach—asserting authority with confidence—underscores the importance of self-respect and the respect of others. Through her story, we see the powerful role that women can play in changing dynamics and leading by example.

Honoring Women Veterans

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, Epic Government honors the many women veterans who have made a significant impact in the military. In their own ways, these women have built a better path forward for the next generations of women. Without the small and big changes they have made, we would not be where we are today. Happy International Women’s Day!
